LTHS boys swim meet and senior night

The boys varsity swim team finished their last home meet with a win against Homewood-Flossmoor High School. It was Senior and Teacher Appreciation Night, and it was very exciting to see teachers coming out to support the team. The season isn’t officially over; they still have sectionals and the opportunity to go to State. Sectionals will be held at LTHS  on February 17th and 18th.

There were records broken this season. Josh Lantow set the new record in the 100 free at 47.01 seconds. The other seniors included Ian Greenway, Bobby Gerritson, Matt Dalton, and Zach Martin. Varsity swimmer Augusto Ureta says, “The seniors were great! They taught me a lot, and I’m going to miss all of them!”

Ureta continued to compliment Lantow: “Josh Lantow was the greatest swimmer I’ve ever met. In the future I’d want a chance to swim against him. I wouldn’t trade them [the team] for anybody else.”

Congrats to the swimmers and the seniors for a great season, and good luck at sectionals.
