College recruit gets second chance

James Robinson has had a whirlwind of conflicting life changes in the last few days. The 6’3” wide receiver out of Lakeland High School has decided to commit to the University of Florida. The nation’s 270 overall player has been the headlines of social media lately, though not for his athleticism or football skills. After a visit to the University of Ohio State, Robinson tweeted that “Ohio State players do a lot of drugs.” Ohio State officials took it seriously, and he was arrested later for marijuana possession. He posted a $250 bond and was sent home. The next day, Florida and Ohio State both pulled their scholarship offer. Many assumed the 4-star recruit’s college dream was tarnished and forever gone.  Robinson publicly apologized for his actions, again over Twitter. He even tweeted that he would not be signing on national signing day, but that would not hold true. The University of Florida shocked the college football community when they announced that they had offered Robinson a letter of intent and that he had signed. Robinson was granted a second chance. The Florida native is an end zone threat and considers Florida his childhood dream school.
