Girls badminton team kickoff its season

As the spring sports kickoff this season, badminton starts with a lot of positive vibes. Allison Brown, a freshman who is now in the team, attended all three days of tryouts from February 27th to March 1st and said that approximately thirty girls showed up each day. Of course, there were a lot of fluctuations in the number of girls who actually tried out due to lack of interests, inability to commit, and other things.

Brown also said that she believes badminton does not get enough credit as a sport, considering most people think of it as a generally simple sport, but contrary to popular belief that it’s easy, badminton is actually very complex and physically challenging. Badminton players actually use a variety of muscle groups, and foot work is “pretty hardcore,” as Brown describes it.

Dani Eustaquio, another freshman who tried out and made the team said, “Tryouts went pretty well. It was difficult getting the foot work down, but it was all worth it in the end because I made the team.”

Brown and Eustaquio are looking forward to a great season this year. Their first game this season was with Lyons Township High School.
