Coming off a 27-22 home loss to Bolingbrook in week 6, the Porters looked to secure a spot in the playoff with a week 7 win. The Porters welcomed in the Lincoln-Way West Warriors in week 7 for senior night.

The Porters capitalized on big plays from seniors during their last home game. Senior Josh Baker was able to recover a Warrior fumble to end Lincoln-Way’s drive at the Porter’s 5-yard line. This key takeaway for the Porters helped stop the Warriors from getting an early lead on their first possession of the game.

Lockport was not able to get the offense going during the first half. Going into halftime, the Porters were trailing 7-0.

The Porters were able to get on the board with another key play from seniors Ben Davis and Patrick Cooper. Davis was able to connect on a pass with Cooper who ended with a 74-yard touchdown.

Senior Nicholas Dado also came up with a key interception to help get the Porters great field position in the fourth quarter. With the game tied 7-7 Dado was able to intercept a tipped pass at Lincoln-Way’s 32-yard line.

The Porters, however, were unable to capitalize on the great field position leaving the game at a 7-7 tie.

Senior Josh Baker ended up making what turned out to be a crucial play for the Porters. With the game tied at 7 in the fourth quarter, Baker got a strip sack and was able to recover the fumble. The Porters got the ball on the Warriors’ 28-yard line.

This time the Porters were able to capitalize on the great field position. Davis was able to find junior running back Tavares Moore for a 9-yard passing touchdown.

Lincoln-Way would end up making the game very close at the end by blocking a Lockport punt and returning it to the Lockport 15-yard line with 9 seconds left. The Warriors were able to get off two throws to the end zone, but both attempts were unsuccessful, giving the Porters a 14-7 victory.

With this conference win, Lockport moves to 5-2, which allows the Porters a chance at the playoffs. Lockport will look for their sixth win in week 8 at Stagg.
