Former basketball player for the San Antonio Spurs, Tim Duncan, is known for his philanthropic ways. He created the Tim Duncan Foundation that raises health awareness and funds education and sports programs. He also supports the American Cancer Society. His recent charitable endeavor is one that hits close to home for him, literally.

Duncan is from the Virgin Islands and due to all the damage that resulted from Hurricane Irma, he started a YouCaring crowdfunding page to help the people of the Virgin Islands. He will also match every dollar raised up to one million.

Duncan recalls from his youth about a hurricane that also brought similar destruction and how life was for him after that. He wants to raise awareness that there are people in the Virgin Islands that desperately need our help, and they are seem to be forgotten due to Hurricane Irma.
