Kingsman: The Golden Circle Film Review

Written by Zayne Giertuga, Staff Writer

After watching the original Kingsmen film and learning a new one was coming soon, I wanted to see it as soon as possible. Once I finally got around to watching it, I was not disappointed.

With Taron Egerton playing as Eggsy again and Colin Firth as Harry Hart, their performances are on point.

Mark Strong also comes back as Merlin and is pretty good as well. Strong’s performance of Country Road was amazing, and they also have a cameo with Elton John appearing.

The action was pretty good. Nothing seemed out of place in the action scenes. With the action scenes come weapons, and they were nothing short of great. New weapons include baseball hand grenades, mine sweeper baseball bats, and the briefcase that acts as a mini-gun, rocket launcher, and riot shield.

The story is above par with the main villain being Poppy played by Julianne Moore and her organization called the Golden Circle, which is an underground organization that sells drugs to the mass public.

Poppy has put a virus of some kind into all of her drugs that kills them in days if not treated. It is up to the Kingsmen and the new Statesmen to save the world. Speaking of which, the series adds in a new secret organization called the Statesmen that sells whiskey instead of suits and is in Kentucky instead of London, letting American culture throw their hat into the ring.

The story from the original and the sequel are sort of similar, but this sequel adds more to the table. This movie takes multiple jabs at the original with Harry in the bar telling the people that want to fight him “manners maketh man.”

Overall, this movie is a must see and earns a solid 3.7/4 stars.
