Lockport Finally Updating

Lockport+Finally+Updating

Lockport’s population has grown immensely over the last 20 years.  Growing its population by over 60% in the last 2 decades, Lockport has been able to make some new additions to the city.  There have been a few additions to the  Lockport-Homer Glen border; however, they have mostly been restaurants including McDonald’s, Culver’s and Sonic.

Right on 159th street in Lockport, new businesses are coming in.  Mattress Firm and Sports Clips are already in, but there are a few more openings for stores.  There have been rumors about what these could be, but they are just rumors for now.  Luckily, Mayor Steve Streit has shed some light on the situation. These businesses are still not allowed to be known by the public because nothing is set in stone yet. However, there are some stores that the Mayor of Lockport told me about.

Mayor Streit, has said that the Domino’s Pizza that was rumored to come into Lockport is no more.  The Domino’s Pizza had a Letter of Intent to be put in the new strip mall by 355, but they eventually decided that they did not want to open up.  Another business possibility is Panera Bread.  There is an open lot in the middle of NTB Tires and Aurelio’s Pizza that might start to build another slew of businesses, but nothing is for certain yet.  If these rumors are actually true, don’t expect Panera Bread to be open soon.  This building could take a while to build and we possibly will not see a new strip mall there before the end of 2016.

As for the businesses by Sports Clips and Mattress Firm, no one knows what businesses are coming in.  Mayor Streit said that this business is confidential and we must wait until further updates to know exactly what is going in. We do not know much about the upcoming additions of Lockport, but we must sit back, relax and let Lockport grow.
