Lockport High School’s band is kicking off the season with a good start. According to Hannah Compton, an LTHS sophomore, “This year we are overall better than last year, and we are further along than we were too.”

With summer practices ranging from 4 to 13  hours and after school practices of 2 and a half hours, they seem to have immensely improved in performance as seen in rehearsals.

“This year’s routines are overall harder but not as fun as last year’s,” says Hannah.

However, Jacob Cala, an LTHS junior, says this might be the right step to take because they will be competing against bigger bands such as Avon and Marian Catholic High School.

Jacob says, “For us to get ahead of them, we will have to play and move a lot better than them.”

With a good start that the band has made, this year could end up being a success.
