According to Healthline, Goldenhar Syndrome is a condition in which there are “abnormalities” in the formation of the face and head. The syndrome is extremely rare and is only present in about 1 in every 10,000 babies, and it is caused by an abnormal chromosome. But on September 10 a mother of a child with Goldenhar Syndrome named Charlie decided to post a picture of her and her son on Instagram to a page called “Our Altered Life,” which has over 12,000 followers.

Harry, the young boy who has the condition, has a prosthetic eye and happened to remove it in the duration of the photo being taken. One user decided to report the image to Instagram’s content moderation team, and the picture was immediately taken down.

Charlie actively made a complaint on Twitter about an innocent picture of her son being removed and got a great amount of support.

Charlie stated to News.com that she was “offended and quite confused,” which any parent would understandably be. After a multitude of people sent many complaints to Instagram, the picture was restored to the page two days later and an Instagram spokesperson apologized to the family.
