The girls swim and dive team has kicked off its fall season. The team practices Monday through Saturday for 2 to 3 hours. Their most recent competition was last Saturday, September 23rd against Downers Grove North High School. They were the meet champions in the 200 free relay (Lindsey Merk, Molly Gerches, Oliwia Wolek, Emily Johnson), the 100 free (Emily Johnson), and the 100 backstroke (Lindsey Merk).  They took third place on the varsity, freshmen, and sophomore levels.

Molly Gerches said, “We’re a pretty close team. Everyone knows each other. There’s nobody on the team that you don’t know.”

Her fellow teammate Kayley Uy adds, “Everyone’s around the same age. There’s a lot of juniors and sophomores that get along really well, so the team dynamic is actually pretty good.”

Kayley also states, “Sometimes when things get hard, everyone gets really down. So we just really need to work on as a team encouraging each other when other people are feeling down.”

Both swimmers hope to finish their senior year by winning sectionals for the third time in a row and are working on getting the relays to state.
