How to be a loner on Valentine’s Day
February 14, 2018
It’s once again that time of year when love is in the air! It seems like everyone is getting into relationships and posting about it Online. For all you single folks such as myself who don’t care for this holiday, here are some survival tips to make it through the day.
Personally, I plan to spend Valentine’s Day at home in bed after school. I have been fortunate enough to have years of experience alone, so here is a list of ways you can spend your lonely night.
For starters, you are going to need blankets and snacks. Grab your favorite thing to munch on and go to a quiet area of your house. Next, you are probably not going to want to see everyone’s relationships on the Internet, so what I do is let my phone die or delete my social media apps so I am not tempted to check.
Once you have found your spot and have your snacks, grab your computer or the remote, turn on your TV, and find something to watch. If you just got out of a relationship, then sappy movies may not be the best thing for you. Try watching a comedy or find a new show to watch.
I recommend watching Gossip Girl if you haven’t already watched it. It is the perfect combination of drama, romance, and excitement. If you’re anything like me, then you will be hooked. If you want a high school comedy, I suggest The Outcasts. It is about two unpopular nerds who create an uprising of nerds to take down the queen bee of the school.
Since the night is all about you, you do not want a movie that is super intense and graphic. Go for an easy going, fun movie. The new Netflix original The Fundamentals of Caregiving is the movie for you if you are not into the gushy teen movies. It is definitely a more serious movie in some ways but with a twisted sense of humor.
There are other ways you can spend the holiday than the ways I’ve suggested such as spending time with pals, but this is how I have spent the past few Valentine’s Day.

So, personally I love these ideas on a Valentines day alone, but I do wish to add on to this amazing list of things to do. For example the idea of deleting social media accounts are genius, but for us who forget to write down passwords we should turn on airplane mode, it disables wifi. Also huge suggestion to any loner don’t hangout with people being alone is peaceful it’s not a bad thing it lets you reflect.
