On December 22nd 2018, Trump issued a government shutdown due to demanding five billion dollars to support the fund of his border wall. Trump declared a partial government shutdown since Democrats did not agree with his decision.

The shutdown affected about 800,000 people, particularly federal employees across the United States. According to Erin Durkin, a writer for The Guardian, “…About 380,000 would stop working. That includes almost all of Nasa and Housing and Urban Development staff, 80% of the National Parks Service, and more than 50,000 workers at the Internal Revenue Service. The other 420,000 workers, deemed essential, would still have to report to work if a shutdown occurs, but won’t get pay checks as long as the impasse continues.”

As of February 15th, Trump signed a legislation approved by Congress that would give fundings to the government. Even though the shutdown has been lifted, conflict still remains in the White House about the border wall.
