Boys bowling team aims for a strike

The LTHS boys varsity bowling team started off its season strong in their first meet. The team hosted Plainfield Central and impressed, defeating them in all three games. The boys junior varsity (jv) team also swept its games.

A mix of older and younger players with different experiences can be seen with the boys bowling team, with multiple upper and lower classmen on the varsity roster. The team also has three players return from last year’s state-qualifying team.

It is also important to make improvements from previous season in order to succeed. Head Coach Ron Davis stated that attention to detail and retention by the players are two areas that he hopes the team will improve upon. Coach Davis also mentions that Ray Bufka (senior), Jim Kontos (junior), and Jason Laba (freshman) are the players to watch for this season.

As for the end-of-the-season goals, Coach Davis says, “We would like to win conference, make it through regionals and sectionals, make it to state, and of course win state, but just getting there is winning.” More importantly, he wants each player to improve as the season progresses.

The team will play its home games at Strike and Spare in Lockport.
