School’s almost over, and summer is around the corner. So, what will you be doing with your freetime? Well, Lockport is hosting plenty of fun events this summer! Come on down to Lockport and stop by to see all of the compelling activities planned over break. There are various activities ranging from concerts to car shows to movies! Here is a little more detail about the entertaining events coming up. 

First on the list is Lockport’s one and only car show named Cruising into Lockport. Not only are there sports cars, but music and ice cream as well. At Cruising into Lockport, there is something for everyone! And the best part is that it’s FREE. That’s right, free. This event will take place every Monday from June 6th to September 26th. Where is it? What time does it start? What kinds of cars will be there? Great questions! The car show will take place from 4-8 pm on State Street (between 9th Street and 11th Street). The market will also be from 4-8 pm, but it will be at Central Square (222 East 9th Street). As for concerts, they will be from 6-8 pm, and in Central Square as well. Now, as promised… ice cream. Ice cream will be sold at all car show events. But, on 06/06/2022, there will be a FREE ice cream social sponsored by AARP and other organizations. After August 29th, there will not be any more concerts, but the car shows will continue! They will take place on 9/12, 9/19, and 9/26. 

Not only are there car shows, but also concerts all throughout the summer. The best part about these concerts is that it is FREE, once again. The Lounge Puppets, Silver Bullet STL, and The Boy Band Night will all be in Lockport over break. There will be openers such as 90’s Pop Nation and Rocks Off as well. What are all these bands? What kind of music will there be? Well, The Lounge Puppets are a rock band that are playing as a tribute to 80’s long hair bands on August 19th (9 pm-11:30 pm). The Silver Bullet STL will be playing as a tribute to Bob Seger who plays easy rock music. They will perform on September 10th (8 pm-10:30 pm). As for The Boy Band Night, they will be playing songs from various boy bands. For example, they will perform covers from Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, NKOTB, and even One Direction! This will take place on June 3rd (9 pm-11:30 pm). In regards to the openers, 90’s Pop Nation will perform on June 3rd (7 pm-8:30 pm) and Rocks Off will play on August 19th (7 pm-8:30 pm). All concerts will take place at Dellwood Park. Come out and see some concerts this summer!

Concerts not really your jam? Come to Lockport for a drive-in movie to relax with friends and family. The film Cruella will be rolling promptly at 8:30 pm on July 29th. Where? At Hassert Park. Keep in mind, pre-registration is required! And of course, what’s a movie without popcorn? Concessions will also be available. If there is rain, the movie will be rescheduled for August 4th. Unfortunately, this event is not free. Residents of Lockport will have to pay $10 while non-residents will be charged $15. So, roll on by to watch a movie this summer.
