Are you ever wondering what to order at the recently opened L-Town Grounds Cafe at East Campus? I’ve spent weeks trying and rating all there is to order at the cafe to find out how they compare, and to see what drinks are really worth the price.
My favorite order – Iced Chai Tea Latte – 10/10
Before I start the general review, I’d like to recommend my favorite order. While it may not be a coffee, the iced chai tea latte is my go-to order at the cafe. It’s milky, spicy, and doesn’t have the bitter taste some coffee has. It has an enjoyable ratio of sweetness, cinnamon, and actual tea, which makes it so appetizing. I’d recommend the iced chai to anyone looking to try something new.
Speciality Drinks
Caramel Frappuccino – 10/10
- This drink is delicious and popular for a reason. It’s super sweet and has a rich texture. Only complaints would be that it goes away so quickly!
Butterfinger Latte – 8/10
- If you’re craving a chocolate bar in coffee form, you should try the butterfinger latte. A great choice for people that don’t mind a sugary drink. The flavors and bits of butterfinger candy remind you of the classic candy favorite.
Pumpkin Spice Latte – 9/10
- Call me basic but this drink is so, so good. The pumpkin spice latte has a great ratio of pumpkin spice flavoring, milk and espresso. Also even more flavorful served warm.
Pumpkin Chai Latte (P.S. Chai love you latte) – 10/10
- Tastes like fall in a cup. This drink is my second favorite if I had to choose, simply because it’s so easy to drink and the hot version makes you feel extremely cozy.
Peppermint Mocha Latte – 8/10
- If you love winter-themed coffee, this is for you. The flavors of peppermint and chocolate blend so well and make this an easy drink to finish quickly. This also tastes even better warm.
Port-a-licious – 7/10
- The nutty and chocolate flavors of the Port-a-licious really help the bitterness of the cold brew, and makes this a really enjoyable drink. If you like cold brew, I would absolutely recommend this drink.
Boo Brew – 6/10
- Another cold brew, but with a fall twist! Although I’m not the biggest fan of cold brew, this drink was not bad and the fall flavors were nice to taste.
Sandersons’ Dark Knight – 7/10
- This drink is a solid cold brew. It wasn’t too dark and the espresso made the cold brew more delightful. Make sure to order this drink with a flavor if you don’t want straight up cold brew and espresso.
Choco-Lot-Espress – 8/10
- This drink is a really nice mix of classic hot chocolate and cappuccino. It tasted really rich and the chocolate helps mask the espresso. I’d definitely order this again.
General Coffee
Hot/Iced Latte – 8/10
- The hot and iced latte is a solid coffee choice. The flavors blended really well with the actual drink. Overall enjoyable.
Cold Brew – 5/10
- The cold brew was a little bitter for me, and tasted better over time. If you like cold brew, then you’ll probably enjoy this, but it wasn’t for me since I really couldn’t get over the bitterness. but if you prefer a natural coffee flavor, then this drink is a good choice!
Macchiato – 6/10
- The macchiato is another fine warm coffee option, with a nice balance of milk and coffee. Nothing amazing about this drink but nothing wrong with it either.
Cappuccino – 7/10
- The Cappuccino is a great option for people new to hot coffee. The foaminess is tasty, and I also really enjoy how milky cappuccinos are.
Drip Coffee – 6/10
- The drip coffee is a good hot coffee, and tastier with cream and sugar. The caramel and vanilla flavors make it taste even better.
Americano – 5/10
- Kind of watery, not too sweet, but it’s an americano so that’s expected. A drink for people who want real coffee, and not for sweet tooth’s like me. Not my favorite.
Hot Chocolate
Hot-Scotchlate – 9/10
- A really cozy drink, nice blend of caramel and chocolate
Hot Chocolate – 9/10
- L-Town Grounds doesn’t disappoint with their version of hot chocolate! Chocolatey, warm, and delicious!
Peppermint Hot Chocolate – 9/10
- A really tasty combo of flavors, the peppermint really compliments the chocolate, the perfect holiday treat
Raspberry Hot Chocolate – 9/10
- Hot chocolate with a fruity twist. While it may sound strange, the raspberry hot chocolate is a yummy treat. The raspberry flavor really compliments the chocolate making this drink well worth trying.
Teas, Lemonades, etc…
Pink Porter Tea – 3/10
- A little strange. Basically just passion tea and cream mixed together. While the color is pleasing, I probably wouldn’t get it again.
Lemonade – 7/10
- Not too sweet, not too sour. A nice drink for non-coffee drinkers.
Raspberry Lemonade – 10/10
- So, so refreshing. This drink could be considered a perfect dupe for a starbucks refresher whenever you’re craving one.
Iced Tea – 7/10
- This drink is also really refreshing, not super sweet, and has nice hints of lemon.
Hot Tea – 7/10
- The hot tea is perfect for a sick day or whenever you need to feel warm, with tons of tasty options and different flavors to choose from.
Porter Palmer – 5/10
- The porter palmer is okay, however the black tea really overpowers the lemonade.
LTG Cure – 5/10
- This drink tastes like an iced tea but less sweet and with more lemon flavor. It’s not super sweet, and not my personal pick.
Protein Drink – 6/10
- The protein drink is okay, but you can’t expect much from a protein drink, considering they usually don’t have much flavor and have a chalky texture. On the bright side, it kinda tastes like a milkshake.
