Matt Rempe, an up-and-coming star in the NHL, made his debut a few weeks ago at MetLife Stadium for the New York Rangers. Rempe is the first rookie in the NHL to make his debut in an outdoor game. It only took a few seconds for Rempe to make a statement by getting into a fight off the game’s first draw. He continued his wrath through the next ten games, fighting in four of them and most recently getting a suspension in his game against the New Jersey Devils for elbowing Jonas Siegenthaler in the head. Rempe is one of the recent rookies who is not only skilled, but is also not afraid to play physically. It is great to see that fighting in hockey hasn’t completely gone away in the game because it helps keep the game intense and increases the viewership in the NHL. If Rempe keeps this up then he may bring more than just points to his team.
