On Thursday, September 12, The Lockport Porters Freshman A/B Girls Volleyball team faced intense matches against Hinsdale Central’s Red Devils, their third game of the week. The Freshman A team took a spectacular win in two sets (25-18, 25-20) while the Freshman B team fell short in two sets (22-25, 21-25).
Both sets for Freshman A team were close and intense, but the team did not let the pressure get to them and won in two sets. They remained calm and the crowd could tell they had a positive mindset.. Natalie Felzcak performed spectacularly for Freshman A, having 6 straight serving points, and 3 out of 6 were aces. The Porters were strong on defense and bounced back after every Hinsdale Central point. In their second set it was close, but Phoebe Riley (28) served the game-winning ace.
Just like the Freshman A team, Freshman B had intense sets, but the B team fell short both sets. Despite the loss, the team played great and had exceptional energy throughout. Rhyse Drozd (28) had great hits and multiple aces helping her team close the score gap. Another strong player for this game was Annalise Weis (28) who played great defense at the net. According to Coach Julia Stemper, “They all played a great game,” and it showed! The Girls’ Freshman Volleyball team will prepare for their next games against Plainfield Central at home.
