Around the last two weeks of October, Red Ribbon week is represented all over schools in America to highlight the importance of living a drug-free life. At Lockport, we partake in Red Ribbon week to show how we strive to be drug free.
LTHS planned and advertised dress up days to show support, such as wearing Camo so bad decisions can not find us, wearing neon or college wear to show our future is bright, and wearing Porter gear or Pajamas so Porters wake up drug free! Many porters participated in these dress up days and we thank those who did.
On Thursday, October 24, Lockport’s Leadership group went around during lunch periods passing out items to increase awareness. They passed out an abundance of red items such as ribbons, bracelets, pencils, and more. The idea of having Lockport students show their support for Red Ribbon Week increased support all over the school; many people wore bracelets on their wrist or the ribbons on their lanyards.
Overall, Red Ribbon Week was a success at Lockport. We hope to increase the support and representation next year as this is a problem that never seems to completely disappear. Great job Porters and remember to stay drug free!
