The Lockport Girls Varsity Volleyball team concluded their season with a historic run to the state finals November 15 and 16 in Normal, IL at ISU. Past teams have yet to be able to accomplish this since 1996, making it an extraordinary achievement. Their strong season led them to an impressive third place in the state finals. Although it was not the goal they ultimately hoped for, the third-place finish is still a feat in itself. Throughout the season, the team bonded and made lasting high school memories. Senior Amanda Bagdonaite stated,“It’s truly something you don’t get to experience! There were some highs and some lows, but the coaches always told us not to let our highs get too high and our lows get too low. Even though we didn’t win state, taking 3rd in the 4a class is a huge accomplishment to us all. It’s an experience I’ll never forget.” The team’s achievements will undoubtedly stay with them forever, and their hard work during the season should leave them proud. With this achievement, the seniors on the team will be able to leave the court with pride.
