When it comes to Christmas time, who couldn’t help but be as happy as they were since they were a little kid? There’s lights, music, snow, presents, decorations and did I mention presents? Families come together for the internationally proclaimed “best time of the year”. With everyone around the world bursting out into laughter and smiles throughout the Christmas season, what could be better than the day of the jolly fat man and his reindeer? A Chicago Christmas!
Chicago’s Navy Pier recently decked out their whole area in downtown Chicago with Christmas lights as well as light constructs that form a Christmas-related decoration. From the entrance to the ferris wheel, everything is festive and full of Christmas spirit. Their recent Light up the Lake even allowed for photoshoots on the lake surrounded by lights, and of course the magical experience of their ferris wheel. While downtown Chicago is known for its bipolar weather being able to deliver scorching hot and ice cold weather within the same day; this particular day it was freezing outside, and while many may see this as a negative, this ultimately added to the magical experience as the cold weather indicated that Christmas season has fallen upon Chicago. The city’s Christmas experience is like no other!
The combination of the decorations, representation of culture, and overall ambiance of the city’s festivities are ultimately what bring us to the conclusion that Christmas in the city is the truly superior Christmas, at least based on our opinion and experiences. Perhaps in Lockport we can import more representative festivities that welcome all cultures to the town and create a sense of unity and togetherness amongst our community. While I’m sure the people of Lockport love Christmas as well, there’s no better place to watch the season of jolliness unfold than downtown in the city. Merry Early Christmas and happy holidays to all!
