The 2024 NFL season was another eventful and memorable season. As the season started, we saw the great rookie class of 2024 evolve throughout the season. With star quarterbacks such as the Commanders’ Jayden Daniels, the Broncos’ Bo Nix, and the Bears’ Caleb Williams being thrusted into the starting role early in the season, we have seen them grow and become fan favorites in their respective cities.
With other great rookie receivers such as the Jaguars’ Brian Thomas Jr., the Giants’ Malik Nabers, and the Raiders’ Brock Bowers, the NFL has a bright future filled with lots of talent. The rookie of the year voting starts soon with the expected result to be Jayden Daniels, who is my personal favorite to win it.
This season was also full of stars getting injured and having to miss this season. Stars such as Aidan Hutchinson, Tua Tagovailoa, Stefon Diggs, Dak Prescott, and Trevor Lawrence all getting hurt before mid-season hurt their teams and fanbases a lot.
The most notable player to be injured was this year’s Madden cover athlete, Christian McCaffery. He went out early in the season, and with his injury came the downfall of last year’s NFC champions, the San Francisco 49ers. Many people blame this on the infamous Madden Curse, which occurs when the athlete featured on that year’s edition of the game has an underwhelming season or gets injured that season. Even though this “curse” has no scientific evidence, it is still believed by many to have an effect on the athlete.
This year, many of the NFL’s athletes have switched teams, including former Giants’ running back Saquon Barkley going to the division rival Eagles. With Saquon signing with one of the best teams in the league, everyone was excited to see what he could do with a good team unlike the Giants. This season was his best yet, in which he rushed for over 2000 yards and almost broke the single season rushing record set by Eric Dickerson back in 1984.
Another star running back was signed to a better and high powered offense this year. Star running back for the Tennessee Titans, Derrick Henry, was traded to the Baltimore Ravens this offseason. With his new team, he rushed for over 1900 yards and helped lead his team to playoffs behind one of the best o-lines in the league.
With the season ending this means voting for awards begins soon. This season had some great play from many different players which has led to many fans wanting a Co-MVP award. This has happened in the past, but the award is most likely going to go to one of two players; Bills Josh Allen or Ravens Lamar Jackson.
Even though other players are being thrown into the mix, like Saquon Barkley and Jared Goff, it has mostly been an argument between these two quarterbacks. With Lamar already being a two-time MVP, most would want to give it to Allen, but considering he has had a significantly better season than his past two winning years, it is hard to vote against him.
Josh Allen also makes a great case for himself. This season, he became the first player to have a passing, rushing, and receiving touchdown in ONE game. This is the first time in the NFL’s over 100 year span that this has happened. With other highlights and crazy stats, it’s hard to vote him out.
Late in the season, another quarterback started to surprise everyone and ended up leading the NFL in passing yards and touchdowns. Joe Burrow led the Bengals to a great late season comeback, but fell short in the end. If the Bengals had a better record or were in the playoffs most would see Joe Burrow as the MVP of the season.
With the regular season ending, the playoffs are set to begin. With many great teams in contention for the Super Bowl, it is hard to predict who will win. Will the Chiefs three peat? Will the Lions or Bills get their first ever ring? Or will Jayden Daniels or Bo Nix be the first QB to win the Super Bowl as a rookie? We’ll just have to wait and see!
