Welcome to our fourth installment of Lockport Food Reviews, where we review local restaurants in the Lockport area.
With the recent opening of Dave’s Hot Chicken in Lockport, one might wonder how this chicken spot compares to other places. Lockport has several chain-chicken locations within the area—including Popeyes, Louisiana Kitchen, Krispy’s Nashville Hot Chicken and KFC. Dave’s Hot Chicken opened March 7 on 159th Street in Lockport. Dave’s is a chain fast food restaurant known for its spicy fried chicken tenders, sandwiches, and chicken bites. We tried this new spot to see if it is worth the hype.
Addison’s order:

I ordered the “Dave’s #1: 2 Tenders with Fries” at a mild spice level, accompanied by cheese sauce. This meal features two sizable chicken tenders, crinkle-cut fries, sliced bread, pickles, and a side of Dave’s sauce.
The mild spice level was pleasantly warm, allowing for a nice flavor without overwhelming heat. The tenders were quite crunchy and juicy, but the flavor of Dave’s sauce got lost when dipped in the tenders. Generally, Dave’s sauce is a blend of mayonnaise and chipotle sauce. The crinkle-cut fries had excellent seasoning with just the right amount of spice. I also enjoyed the fries dipped in the additional cheese sauce, which was a lightly seasoned melted cheese dip, creating a tasty combination.
Hannah’s order:

I ordered the “Dave’s #4: 1 Slider with Fries” with mild spice and toppings as they come. The slider featured one tender piece of chicken, topped with pickles and kale slaw, all served on a potato bun with Dave’s sauce. The spice was perfectly mild, providing a slight kick that was still manageable. However, I preferred it with some extra sauce, as the slider was a bit dry without it.
The #4 meal came with fries on the side with another cup of their sauce. These crinkle-cut fries had unique mild spices to add the perfect flavor. Again, the sauce was as necessary for the fries as it was for the sandwich. The Daves sauce is your classic mayonnaise and ketchup-based sauce with spices that are similar to a Thousand Island dressing.
Overall, we would give the entire experience an 8/10. The ordering process was fast, occurring the day after the grand opening, and the food was delicious. However, we don’t think it stands out compared to other chicken restaurants.
