On Saturday, March 22, the Boys Lacrosse team faced off against Normal Community for the first home game of the year at Porter Stadium. The game was a battle early on with the score being tied 1-1 after the first quarter; however, the Porters 5 goals in the second quarter proved their offense to be too strong for Normal to defend against. The boys continued their offensive success throughout the game, finishing with 11 goals scored. At the same time, their defense was spectacular, only allowing 3 more goals over the last three quarters. The score ended 11-4 in Porter’s favor.

Prior to their home opener, the Porters had dropped their first game of the season to a tough Lyons Township team. Nonetheless, the Porters created this great bounceback win with a strong team effort. Eight different players had found the back of the net in this game, proving that it took everyone to win. Owen Likins (25), Ben Sochacki (25), and Chase Odom (25) each picked up two goals, along with Michael Klinger (25), Matt Giorgetti (25), Patrick Keblusek (26), Jonathan Lopez (26), and Jackson Scannell (27) each scoring one.

“I feel that we can repeat what we had done last year [make the Sectional Championship] and maybe even make it further. This team has amazing chemistry, and I feel that everyone is extremely dedicated to our success,” stated Junior Attackman Will Berg when asked for his thoughts about this year’s team.
The Porters hope to continue to succeed throughout the season and find ways to win big games, because their goal stays the same: winning a state championship.
