Another year, another Lollapalooza lineup. With this year’s lineup containing several mainstream favorites such as Olivia Rodrigo and Gracie Abrams, many fans of these artists will be experiencing Lollapalooza for the first time. As someone who attended Lolla for the first time last year, and whose parents are regular attendees, there are some essential pieces of information that should be known to prepare for the festival.
Don’t expect to be extremely close to the stage
At most festivals, certain sections are reserved for VIP. Unless you are extremely sneaky, you will not be able to access those areas. The only way to be close to the stage is if you camp out which means you would have to arrive right when they start allowing people in, sprint to the stage, starve for a long period of time and hold your bladder, which is not going to end well. Ultimately, your health should never be put at risk just to see your favorite artist.
Drink Water
This probably should be common sense but with all the excitement in the air it may be easy to forget to take a sip. The most common reason people pass out is from dehydration, and nobody wants to spend their day in a medical tent.
Don’t neglect seeing smaller artists
Older festival goers will argue that the point of festivals is not to watch a full set, but to get glimpses at artists you have never seen before. However, if you bought a ticket for a certain day to see certain people then you should watch their full set. However, you should still discover new artists who have the honor of playing at Lollapalooza.
Plan when you want to get food
This is essential: so many people will neglect eating because they want to see as many artists as possible. You still need to eat. I would recommend going to get food in between a block of artists you are planning on seeing. Reviewing the options for food stands ahead of time is helpful so you know what you want to eat. You can’t enjoy your favorite artists on an empty stomach!
