Interstellar featuring Matthew McConaughey directed by Christopher Nolan premiered on November 5. This two and a half hour thriller runs through a wide range of emotions from excited and thrilled to awe and downright disappointment. One of the best features of Interstellar is its practical and accurate but indirect and entertaining explanation of relativity. The movie is thrilling and captivating while still being educational.

Movies, especially science oriented movies, usually won’t explain something still debated in the scientific community. But interstellar, in my mind, takes a bold step to explain the unexplainable. I also think that the plot takes a few shortcuts to create the initial situation of the movie. Time travel is a prime example of one of the shortcuts they use. It makes the whole movie a mind-blowing experience but a bit confusing with all of the things they jumble in the plot.

Putting that aside Interstellar was a great movie that took me personally for a emotional roller coaster because of the suspense and unpredictability of the plot. So many events you don’t expectto happen take place that makes for jaw-dropping events. New characters appear throughout the movie leave you shocked at their impact of the movie. The camerawork and filming, in my opinion is not as amazing as Gravity directed by Alfonso Cuarón, but is still very impressive. I would say that it feels like a low budget imitation of Gravity which has outstanding cinematic filming.

Although Interstellar has many flaws in my opinion it is still a very enjoyable film with many surprises and unexpected plot twists. Interstellar sparks many emotions and overall creates a great feeling in the viewer. Watching interstellar makes one want to talk about concepts discussed in the movie such as the theory of relativity for what seems like hours. Overall Interstellar is good movie to see mainly for all the surprises even though I feel the movie could have been much better.
