On Wednesday, May 7, Lockport’s Varsity and Junior Varsity Boys Water Polo teams hosted Neuqua Valley for their annual senior night. Senior night is a tradition for all Lockport sports teams, where graduating athletes are celebrated by the rest of the team. This season’s senior night was a special one for the Boys Water Polo program. After having small senior classes in the last two seasons, 12 seniors were celebrated on Wednesday, the largest group of seniors in a long time.

Taking on Neuqua Valley, one of the best teams in the Southwest Suburban Conference, Lockport held their own, with only a one point deficit early in the fourth. Neuqua eventually pulled away, resulting in a 16-9 loss for Lockport. However, for many of the seniors, who were freshman on a winless Lockport team in 2022, the improvements that were made during their time as a team were apparent.

Junior Varsity ended their season with a 9 -4 loss. Junior Varsity showed much potential throughout the season, with many young players showing the talent to replace the outgoing seniors.
Varsity followed up their loss with a 19-13 away victory over Warren Township on Thursday, May 8, finishing their regular season. The Lockport Boys Water Polo Program looks forward to a sectional matchup against Waubonsie Valley on Thursday, May 15, a rematch of their season opener in March.
