With the NFL season starting at week three this Thursday, the NFL has posted multiple reports of questionable players for both week three and the rest of the season. The first major one that has been all over the news recently is Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers was traded to The New York Jets, exciting all of the NY fan base. But by the 11:40 mark in the first quarter of their first game, Rodgers went down. As his left leg planted, it went taunt. He suffered a complete tear to his left Achilles tendon, knocking out any chance of him returning this season. The Jets are devastated that what they thought was going to be their final comeback for football, was thrown away due to Rodgers being out for the season. The only hope they have right now is Aaron’s persistence in wanting to come back for playoffs later this season.
Additionally, “heartthrob” Joe Burrow on the Cincinnati Bengals recently suffered a possible major calf injury. While most women all over the internet have been drooling over Burrow, they may not realize he missed most of training camp and preseason due to his injury. At the start of the season, Joe Burrow came back to start, but re-injured his calf muscle against the Ravens in week 2. Now, with a 0-2 score, the Bengals hope for some redemption when Joe Burrow is healed.
Another disappointing injury is Nick Chubb on the Browns. During their last game, he suffered a very brutal knee injury. After being carted off the field, he is now undergoing season- ending knee surgery. The Browns and their fans are devastated to lose such an amazing running back.
The NFL has been known for major injuries due to the high level skills needed for football. But what are they going to do with big name players who will be out a majority of the season because of major injuries? What can we do to prevent these injuries from happening? Well, the players themselves have come up with an idea: playing on real grass. About 16 stadiums have real grass, but the NFL Players Association have been trying to convince all stadiums to follow suit to increase safety among all players.
