Lockport’s Homecoming themes for 2023 were definitely a disappointment. There were a few good themes like Barbie & Ken and Bikers vs. Surfers, but it ends there.

 Of course we have the usual theme for Friday, Porter Pride, but what are those other two themes? 

Elemental and Class Color-what? Class color is the most un-fun theme to ever exist for a Homecoming theme. Not only were seniors wearing their class colors twice during Hoco week, but sophomores were outraged for the fact that they had to wear camo. Sorry, but I wouldn’t want to wear camo either. Plus, many did not know how to make the specific elemental theme more fun.

I also found it surprising that many did not dress up either. Either people did not like the themes and chose not to dress up or showed no interest. Many teachers didn’t even dress up, which is one of the key factors that makes the dress up days more fun. Thankfully, some did show Porter enthusiasm and dressed up with glitter, boas, and face paint. 

A lot of suggestions, for future reference, were disco fever, tacky tourist day, or superhero day. The themes weren’t bad, just disappointing compared to last year’s themes. Last year’s theme was more interactive, like the substitute for a backpack and Adam Sandler day. So many people dressed up and went all out for each day. There were a lot of people who dressed up that year which indicates that more creative options were more of a success

Overall, hopefully next year’s theme will be more fun and interactive.
