Cookies are one of the sole desserts that we have today; they are so simple, yet so complex. They can be any shape, size, flavors or type. However, a hard thing to do is to find a cookie fitting for all. For example, those who may have an allergy may feel as if they are missing out on the deliciousness that others are ravishing in. Well, miss out no more! These cookies are just as good as the regular ones you buy in the store, if not better.
First off, before starting, these sugar cookies are free from the following:
- Milk
- Egg
- Fish
- Shellfish
- Soy
- Peanuts, Tree Nuts, etc.(all nuts)
Some ingredients could still have other allergens, so please do check all the ingredients before baking if you have more severe allergies.
Let’s start with the ingredients. In order to make these sugar cookies you will need the following:
1 ¼ cup butter, softened
2 cups white sugar
2 ¼ cups unsweetened applesauce
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 ¾ cups of all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
¼ cup sugar for decoration
Let’s start baking the cookies:
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
2. In a medium bowl, stir flour, salt, and baking soda then set aside.
3. In a large bowl, mix butter and sugar together until creamy, light and fluffy. (You can’t over mix this, it makes a big difference in the texture of the cookie.)
4. Add the applesauce and vanilla into the large bowl and mix until it becomes totally fluffy.
5.Turn the mixer to low and add in dry ingredients until they are blended without over mixing.
6. Use your hands and scoop out small scoops of the dough and roll them in the palms of your hands to create balls (no larger than a ping-pong ball).
7. Pour your ¼ cup full of sugar into a small bowl (if you want color inside the cookie, add sugar sprinkles to the sugar in the bowl).
8. Roll each ball into the bowl of sugar and place the rolled dough on an ungreased cookie sheet (two inches apart, slightly flattened).
9. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes (until edges are slightly brown).
10. Set cookies aside to cool for five minutes before removing from the pan.
Once you’re finished, you can decorate the cookies however you like! You can use frosting, sprinkles, or just leave them plain. Have fun and enjoy your tasty treats.
