Starting in the fall, dancers throughout Lockport team up to prepare for an unforgettable performance. Led by Ms. Cannon, a physical education teacher at East Campus, the dancers involved with the Orchesis program are encouraged to expand their horizons, improve their skills, and have fun with friends. Ms. Cannon has been running the club for four years, and assisted running it prior to that. 

“My heart and soul go into this club because it celebrates all styles and abilities of dance,” Ms. Cannon expressed. With over 30 dances and special performances during the show, dancers amazed the audience with genres like tap, hip hop, ballet, lyrical, contemporary, jazz and more. 

 This year, Orchesis even invited Lockport’s two acapella groups: Vocal Point, who performed Wednesday night, and Off The Record who performed Thursday night. Another guest performance seen was the Best Buddies dance, featuring some classic Disney songs!  

This two hour performance was truly amazing to watch. The hard work put into the costuming and choreography stood out in every performance. The dancers who performed are whole-heartedly passionate about what they do, and it was apparent as an audience member watching them. 

Some of the dances showcased were: ‘My Body Is A Cage’ choreographed by Sophia Schafer, ‘Get Up’ choreographed by Jennalyn Connelly & Aubree Tovar, ‘Feelin’ Country’, choreographed by Colleen Cronin & Mia DiGiovanni, and ‘Monica’ choreographed by Joleene Appiah Kubi. These are only a few, but all dances performed were truly incredible.
