Lockport High School’s very own Abby Giordano took home first place this week at the Academy of Scholastic Broadcasting National PSA contest for her short film, “Not Alone”. The contest was aimed at raising awareness around mental health in tandem with organizations such as Safe and Sober, Community Partnership and Missouri Foundation for Health.
Giordano is a part of LTHS activity, Club Create, and her film was largely produced using resources directly related to the club. “As an educator, there is not a better feeling than seeing the success of your students. Abby is an incredibly gifted and creative filmmaker. More importantly, she is a kind and thoughtful person. I was elated when I saw her name in the first place position. I thought she created an awesome project, but you never know how professional judges will assess the work. I could not be more proud, and I can’t wait to see what she does next,” expressed Club Create’s sponsor, Kevin Conway.
This win is a huge deal not only for Giordano, but Club Create as a whole. Abby not only won a $1000 prize for herself, but also secured a $500 prize for the club and put them on the map. Porter Press is proud to collaborate with Club Create and very eager to see what Giordano and her peers create in the future.
