The Lockport Township High School Boys’ Soccer Team closed out one of its most impressive seasons in recent years, finishing 15-3-2 overall and a perfect 8-0 in the Southwest Suburban Conference. The Porters finished strong, defeating some of the area’s top programs, including Lincoln-Way East, Sandburg and Stagg, before making a deep postseason run that ended in the sectional semifinals against state powerhouse Naperville North.
Throughout the regular season, the Porters showed why they were one of Illinois’ strongest teams: a stingy defense anchored by senior center back Nojus Slivskis, and an attack powered by senior captain Jacob Hareza and senior midfielder Kacper Sikon that delivered pivotal goals in big games. Lockport’s 1-1 penalty victory over Stagg High School and its gritty 4-2 victory over Homewood Flossmoor proved their ability to perform under pressure.
“Those conference games were battles,” Sikon said. “We knew everyone was coming for us, but we stayed locked in. Going undefeated in conference was one of our biggest goals, and we made it happen.”

Lockport’s dominance carried the postseason where they exploded offensively. The Porters rolled past Metea Valley 5-2 in the regional semifinals, then stormed through Benet Academy 7-2 in the regional championship to capture the program’s 2nd consecutive regional title.
The sectional semifinal opponent was Naperville North, one of the most storied soccer programs in Illinois. Lockport got off to a good start and had some early chances, but the experience and depth of the Huskies proved too much. Naperville North defeated St. Laurence to capture the IHSA Class 3A State Championship, their fifth state title in program history.
Even in defeat, the Porters walked off the field with their heads high. Their 15 wins, conference championship and regional crown capped off a season defined by teamwork, resilience and belief.
“Although the season didn’t end how we wanted it to, all of the memories, friendships, and lessons we learned will stay with us long after that final whistle,” said senior centre back Jakub Sadowski.
With key players returning, and the legacy of this senior class setting the standard, the Porters are already looking ahead to next season, one that promises more success for Lockport Soccer.
